Johan Cruyff Institute

A behind-the-scenes look

The morning started with a warm welcome at Bernie's Bar & Kitchen, where an international group of Master of Sport Management students from the Johan Cruyff Institute gathered at a venue rich in racing history. In an informal setting, the group was welcomed and prepared for an inspiring behind-the-scenes look at Circuit Zandvoort.

This was followed by an in-depth plenary session in Bernie's Lounge, where students gained insight into the development of the circuit as a modern sports and event destination. Topics included the role of marketing, partnerships and innovation within the international sports industry. Through real-life cases, theory was directly linked to the reality of the Formula 1 Heineken Dutch Grand Prix.

Race experience and backstage tours

After the plenary programme, it was time to experience the circuit firsthand. The students stepped into the simulators at Simrace Center Racesquare, where they felt the intensity of racing in a virtual environment. This was followed by guided tours across the venue, including exclusive backstage access to areas that are normally closed to the public.

The visit concluded with a shared lunch, after which the group continued their journey with new insights and inspiration. A day where sport, business and experience came together seamlessly.
